                         Puerto Madryn

Puerto Madryn is a great town to visit for a couple of days or even a week, especially when you make it out to the Valdez Peninsula and especially between December and March.  The Peninsula was okay in April but most of the penguins, orca's and whales have moved on by then.  After two weeks it gets downright boring!  There's not much to do but at least the folks are friendly and helpful.

As I was riding I saw these little heads and turned around to park on the other side of the road and try to get a picture.

They ran away but I got a couple of shots.

At Tres Cerros again for gas and a glimpse at their pet.

A very intimidating beast but I bravely risked it all to get close enough for this picture.

I pulled over for a break and saw these initials "E.G." on the side. It's about 20 miles north of Comodoro Rivadavia.

First glimpse of Puerto Madryn. I had no idea I'd be here for two weeks.

"The most important isn't what you have, or what you do, but what you are" a little Madryn public service announcement.

The beach-balls really suck here.

This ship wreck was historically significant for some reason.

This Donald Sutherland statue was next to the ship wreck, I guess he was the captain, which would explain why it's so significant.

On the main avenue of town.

More boat theme stuff in the park.

Notice anything about this tree carving? Me neither.

More park art.

On the way out to the Valdez Peninsula.

More llamas.

The ears back look.

This curious critter has learned long ago that humans = free food and was not the least bit afraid.

The grey arctic foxes in the park are not quite as fearless as the armadillo's but they'll hang out in the general area waiting for free food.

Poised to snatch a snack from a human.

This armadillo was literally climbing onto peoples laps looking for food.

They even fed the curious cutie critter.

This is the main spot where the Orca's will swim right onto the beach to snatch a seal but there was no Orca action on this day.

Even the little birds in the park are more comfortable around people than birds outside the park, it's the free food thing.

Waving.

Ferocious bird of prey.

Still on the Valdez Peninsula, there was a herd of about 25 of these big horses.

One of only two penguins left in the area.

Here's the other one hiding in the bushes.

An Australian couple on the cleanest motorcycle in all of South America!

Sunset as I was leaving the peninsula.

Sunrise from one of the many many mornings here in Puerto Madryn.

Back in Puerto Madryn, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, my heroes!

One that didn't make it.

Indian statue on the south end of town.

Lone pink flamingo.

Same one.
