Lago Atitlan has been called the most beautiful lake in the world by many.
Panajachel, a small town on the north side of Lago Atitlan, has been called
a crowded, gringo laden, trinket selling town by me. But it was still
a good
place to stay and see the lake and surrounding sites.

There are so many trinkets in Panajachel they set up stands way outside of town to accomodate the overflow. Panajachel is in the background below.

Lago Atitlan from Panajachel. Three volcano's across the lake - Santiago is in the foothills between the two volcanos on the left.

I took one of these smaller boats both ways - the ride to Santiago was smooth, the ride back was very bumpy as the afternoon wind causes swells.

This is an example of the only camera filter I have, a circular polarizing lense. It cuts down glare, and can emphasize sky/cloud lighting.

Same photo with the polarizer turned to let the reflecting light into the camera. Cool.

You know it's good hotel when they've got a concrete small person peeing.

Hammock photos behind Hotel Regis, Panajachel, definitely recommended.
