El Honduragua is just my word for El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua all combined on one page.  There are no pictures from Honduras but El Ragua didn't sound as cool so I included all three countries in which I traveled during this page of pictures.  Nothing against Honduras but getting into that country took 2 1/2 hours (time mostly spent waiting for corrupt border officials to take my money) and I really needed to get through Honduras rapidly in order to make it to a hotel in Nicaragua at a reasonable hour.  I ended up having to ride after dark for 30-40 minutes in Nicaragua but all was well.

The only thing I can really comment about Honduras is that strip of highway in the southern part of the country, the quickest route from El Salvador into Nicaragua.  It was very busy with pedestrian traffic, horse drawn carriages, horses, cattle, goats, pigs and other livestock.  It was the same in Nicaragua; at one point, about 5 miles past the border leaving Honduras and entering Nicaragua, the road was completely blocked with a herd of about 200 cattle.  I was able to get through, slowly, but had some mild 'cattle contact' as they sort of bumped into me.  But all the pedestrian and live stalk traffic on the highway somehow made traveling after dark more comfortable as I approached Chinandega, Nicaragua, after starting the day in San Miguel, El Salvador.  I was fully aware that the pedestrians and live stalk were a false sense of security because if banditos were going to rob, shoot or kidnap me there would be no help from the peasants, and help from some super-benevolent bovine or goat would be even less likely.

Actually this is a picture in Guatemala. A cemetery near lago Atitlan.

San Salvador, El Salvador, from my waaaaay too expensive hotel room. It was getting dark and it was all I could find, The International Hotel.

Same room shot. Sherwin Willians is big in Central America.

From my hotel room in San Miguel a minute after I arrived - cool sunset eruption.

San Miguel centro, Cathederal in the background.

This is where I ate the night before my sick-day in San Miguel. Avoid it.

The volcano and the town are both called San Miguel, what a coincidence.

My night time arrival at Hotel Los Volcanes in Chinandega, Nicaragua. Some people kiss the ground when they're glad to arrive safely, I take a picture

Some of the Hotel Los Volcanes staff really wanted to be on the website - here you go!

Next day, same colorful wagan load.

The two blue stripes represent the Pacific Ocean and Carribean Sea; white represents peace, justice and purity. The triangle represents equality.

Hotel Los Volcanes. Not a bad place for about $40.00.

Pan American Highway? Probably not but it's difficult to find sometimes. This "highway" was between Chinandega and Granada, Nicaragua.

Centro in Granada.

Nice hotel on the Centro at Granada. All the hotels had only street parking for my motorcycle but these guys had a 24 hour guard. The bike was fine.

More Granada scenery. It really is a great little city and very low prices. I'd recommend it for anyone considering a language school abroad.

Another angle of the Centro.

More centro scenery.

Granada art.

You can climb to the top of this bell tower for about a dollar.

Iglesia La Merced, two blocks west of the centro.

From the Merced belltower looking east, you can see the Cathederal and Lake Nicaragua in the background.

Looking south from the belltower.

Looking west.

North.

More belltower.

La Merced cross.

One of the many old little parks in Granada.

Same park.

Slim pickin's for this old horse.

Cathederal.

Another old church 3 blocks east of the centro. You can barely see a little girl in a blue dress at the front door.

When I took this horses picture he shook his head like he didn't want his picture taken with the embarassing bows on! I told him I deleted it.

Lago de Nicaragua (Cocibolca). This poor family was completely stranded on a tiny island.

More belltower stuff.

Belltower watch guy.
