                      BA, La Boca

Zona La Boca, Republica de La Boca, Barrio La Boca or just La Boca - a neighborhood that by any other name is just as colorful.  The colors make it a great place to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon with a camera; the food, scenery and entertainment help too.

Welcome to La Boca.

Another funky intro to La Boca.

This building is a popular sticker, poster and picture for La Boca.

Some bundled trinkets, before being set up and hung individually.

Popular Buenos Aires trinkets.

No shades??

A traditional, non-Tango dance.

Everyone can play.

Just another tall guy looking for tips.

Greek?

Lots of these little wall murials throughout La Boca.

Typical very colorful building style in the center of La Boca.

One way...

The other way. La Boca was/is not a very ritzy part of town and the sheet metal structures are common, but less colorful as you leave the center.

I thought this was kind of a cool picture by itself but wondered who and where the artist was...

I walked by 20 minutes later to see this guy with underdeveloped arms and legs, doing his thing.

This is a crappy picture but I just took it to show that in La Boca they like the American flag while some places in Argentina avoid it.

I assume this is from the 70's and 80's when they tortured thousands of Argentineans during the cold war.

This chubby styrofoam character has seen better days.

Another poser styrofoam guy.

Another famous La Boca scene.

Closeup of the stars - Juan Peron, Eva Peron and a socker star whose name I didn't get.

Ingraving Mate mugs. Mate is a very popular tea type of drink that, to me, tastes and smells somewhat like bitter green tea and cow manure.

Imaginary living room.

More La Boca scenery.

Finally, some Tango!

Freaky scary looking art in La Boca, where there's all kinds of art.

Another noise-making tip request - the guy picking his nose asked for cash because I took their picture. Not today.

A port office at La Boca.

Another soccer player,

And another.

More typical La Boca scenery.

Heading west out of La Boca Centro the homes are a bit more broken down.

No grill, no problem! Nothing gets in the way of Argineans grilling farm animals.

A statement about the police, church and press that I saw several times in La Boca.

More Tango.

At the beginning of La Boca Centro.

Tango Stud!
